TEAMS AND PLAYERS OF THE MONTH

Our new monthly recognition program celebrates the teams and individuals who best exemplify the three pillars of #WeAreSurf by being enthusiastic, intentional, & together. To nominate a team or player, email your recommendation to info@gssurfsc.org by the 1st of each month. Our Surf Leadership Program members will vote on one team, one boy player, and one girl player at their next workshop.

PLAYER OF THE MONTH – JULY 2018

July’s Boy Player of the Month is Akal Singh (B08B), whose hard work in the Goalkeeping Academy helped his team dominate during this brutally hot summer, allowing only 1 goal in his last 9 matches, while his team went on to score 41.

PLAYER OF THE MONTH – JULY 2018

July’s Girl Player of the Month is Jadyn Edwards (G00A), the Herald’s 2017 Girls Soccer Player of the Year who recently graduated from Jackson High School and already kicked off her collegiate soccer career with an assist in her first match with University of New Mexico’s Lobos.
In her 2 years at Surf, Jadyn was a focused and quiet leader on and off the field, well-respected by her teammates and coaches.

TEAM OF THE MONTH – JULY 2018 BOYS

July’s Team of the Month – Boys is B08B, who focused on working together with intention and enthusiasm. These players recognized the power of their enthusiasm early only and truly took advantage of it during training.

Coach Shaun Warner helped prepare his team, guiding them as they set goals and prepared for each match with purpose and intent, resulting in the team going undefeated over their last 9 matches, including a semifinal finish at Clash at the Border and 2 championship finishes at Rush Cup and Rimland Challenge.

TEAM OF THE MONTH – JULY 2018 GIRLS

July’s Team of the Month – Girls is G00A, who placed 2nd at Far West Regionals and just earned their place for the 2018-19 season of the expanded US Youth Soccer National League for the 3rd year in a row.
In July, they attended the prestigious San Diego Surf Cup in the U19 Super Black division, as returning champions going undefeated for the 2nd year in a row.
