Garen is excited to begin his first season with Greater Seattle Surf Soccer Club. He grew up in Pullman, Washington, but has lived in Portland, Oregon for the past 10 years. As a player, Garen was a WA 2A State Champion and GNL Defensive MVP at Pullman HS. While at Spokane CC helped the team to NWAC Final and was NWAC All-Star defender and Left Back for Spokane Shadow PDL team. Received All-American H.M. honours after leading CCC in Assists while playing Forward at Warner Pacific College in Portland, Oregon. Helped WP to NAIA Region 1 final, first since 1980s.

After graduating from Warner Pacific College with B.S. in Business Administration Garen started coaching and continued his education by traveling to Liverpool for MBA in Football Industries. After completion Garen continued his education on the coaching ranks and currently holds a USSF B license.

As a coach, Garen was an assistant coach for Bellevue College Men’s and Women’s programs as well as an assistant coach for the Skagit Valley College Men’s program. He was the Boys’ head coach for Fort Vancouver High School, helping them achieve their first winning season and playoff win since 1988. Garen has also been involved with the Oregon Olympic Development Programs and US Soccer Training Centers while coaching for Washington Timbers FC.

When not playing or coaching the game, Garen loves watching Manchester United. He is married to Madai and the father of daughter Solimar (2) and son Aram who is coming soon.
